ATAPI is, in fact, another name for Advanced Technology Attachment with Packet Interface.
This is the standard Interface used to connect many elements in your computer, such as CD-ROM drives, hard drives, RAM, motherboard and other componenets.
ATAPI is the modern version of ATA – Advanced Technology Attachment. Unlike ATA (which was limited to connecting only hard drives and motherboard) ATAPI is designed to allow connection between your motherboard and every other portable device. This was considered quite a breakthtough, as ATAPI allowes much more flexibility in relation to many more formats of portable and removable media.
The ATAPI standard was developed by Western Digital (who also developed IDE – the main connector to the PC, that receives orders from ATAPI), and maintained by x3 committee.
ATAPI cables are consisted of 40 sub-cables, all tightly wrapped together, ready to be plugged into the device socket – mainly the CPU. ATAPI was primarily used for internet applications as it suffered from a technical cable length limitation.

There are many varied drivers used by the different ATAPI interfaces. Many of them are listed in the following sub-categories. You are invited to browse the Driver’s Driver database, and look for specific information regarding your particular driver. You can then proceed to communicate with our team of experts, and the driver’s driver community, or even make a request to download your ATAPI driver (free of charge).
